About Capital Artist Collective

Capital Artist Collective is an online gallery that provides a platform for local artists to grow their potential and to provide collectors, young or experienced, access to affordable original art. Capital Artist Collective is a sister gallery to our four other Collectives (Charleston, Atlanta, Nashville and Palm Beach). Together, all five Artist Collective businesses, are committed to making art part of daily life and to be a catalyst for greater collection, exhibition and appreciation of original art.

Capital Artist Collective does not have a physical storefront, so keep up with our email newsletters + follow us on Instagram to see upcoming shows and pop up events in the area. Interested in hosting an art event in your business or home?

About the Director

Kate Barlow Clark, Artist Collective Operations Manager, was named the new Director of Capital Artist Collective (CapAC) in June 2023. She has been with Artist Collective since 2018, working as the gallery manager for Charleston Artist Collective + Operations Manager for all markets.

Growing up in a family of artists, Kate always had a deep appreciation for the arts. From visiting her grandfather's exhibitions in Virginia, to traveling and visiting museums abroad, original artwork has held a prominent role in Kate's life and has always struck a sentimental cord. "I truly believe that the art in your space is the greatest reflection of who you are - your values, interests and personal style. It is one of the simplest ways we can find joy in our daily lives."

Kate received a degree in Art History from Sewanee: The University of the South before moving to Charleston, SC and beginning her career with the Collective. Kate and her husband moved to her hometown of Charlottesville in 2023, now the base of operations for CapAC. Representing 15 artists in the DC/VA/MD area, CapAC is dedicated to promoting local artists, all while giving back to the local community by donating a portion of every sale to our area non-profits and organizations. Artist Collective Founder, Allison Williamson states, “Kate has been an integral part of our team for several years. As Director of Operations, she’s formed strong connections with our artists across the Southeast. I have great confidence in her abilities to lead the CapAC and grow it to the next level!”

Kate is available for artwork consulting and available by appointment for in-person shopping. Reach out with all your art needs!

Mission Statement

Our mission of the Capital Artist Collective is to provide a platform for local artists to grow their potential and to provide collectors, young or experienced, access to original affordable art while giving back to area non-profits and organizations.

How it Works

Each month the artists paint their interpretation of a theme chosen by the Collective as a whole. Online viewers can find the monthly theme displayed at the top of our home page. New work arrives on our website on the first day of every month! Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter to receive an email reminder when new work is live online. A percentage of the sale benefits the designated local charity we are supporting. Creativity has a conscience! If you would like to nominate a charity, please email kate@artistcollectives.org

Artwork

Every piece at Capital Artist Collective is original! You might find something bucolic, modern, or classic - we have artwork spanning from abstracts to hyperrealism. Majority of our paintings are sold unframed because we believe framing is personal and so dependent on your style and space. Framing your piece gives it the personality that you choose. We know that online viewers need to get a full-picture understanding of the artwork they are seeing on our website. Most of our paintings online have images from different angles and are described in detail so you can better imagine the piece in your space. Please reach out if you'd like to see more photos of a painting or have outstanding questions, we are happy to provide more information!

Shipping and Tax

All paintings are subject to sales tax and a shipping + handling charge (starting at $15) based on size and weight of the work. All sales are processed through Shopify and will be shipped via USPS, FEDEX or UPS. Please contact us with any questions regarding shipping.
